2001 Meritorious Service Honorees

Each year, USA Volleyball presents Meritorious Service Awards to individuals and/or groups that provide outstanding contributions to the sport of volleyball across the country. Each Region is allowed to nominate and select up to five individuals or groups for this recognition each year. The Carolina Region is pleased to announce the following individuals as recipients of 2001 Robert L. Lindsay Meritorious Service Awards. All award recipients will be recognized in the 2002 USA Volleyball Guidebook. A listing of all previous winners of Carolina Region Meritorious Service Awards can be found here.

2001 HONOREES:

Ben Guiliano - Ben has been an active Tournament Director at Barber Park for the past 3 seasons. Without Ben’s willingness to host tournaments at Barber Park every weekend, the Region would have been even more challenged for facilities with the growth we have experienced over these three seasons. Ben has hosted Adult, Junior, and Coed tournaments at Barber Park, and we look forward to many more seasons of volleyball at Barber Park. Ingrid Wicker - Ingrid has served as a Tournament Director and Junior Club director in her many years of service to the Carolina Region. This past year, Ingrid also served as the Women’s Player Rep. In addition, Ingrid has hosted CAP clinics and meetings at NCCU and has always helped the Region when asked. Her service has been greatly appreciated! Randy Follas - Randy was one of the founders of the Wake County Volleyball Club and was Tournament Director of the WCVC Christmas Classic for several years. He has since moved to Salisbury where he has begun to introduce the benefits of hosting volleyball tournaments to local Salisbury schools. Randy is also a Junior National rated official and is very active in officiating the Carolina Region’s junior program. The Carolina Region would like to thank each of these individuals for their continued support of volleyball in North Carolina! Without people like these, the Carolina Region would not be where it is today. If you have a chance to meet these honorees or any previous year’s winners, please thank them for their many contributions!
