What Are You Doing This Summer? 

The fourteenth edition of the Carolina Region Junior Beach Tour (CR JBT) is back for 2024!  The CR JBT was created as a series of Outdoor tournaments specifically for Juniors across the state culminating in a Carolina Region Junior Beach Regional Championships in July.  We will offer competition for boys and girls in following age groups if interest (see bottom of page for age definitions): u12; u14; u16; and u18. Contact the tournament hosts about whether players may sign up individually and be paired with another individual.

New for 2024: The Carolina Region Jr Beach Tour’s home is now on Volleyball Life! If not familiar with Volleyball Life, this platform provides a central system for beach volleyball events across the US including registrations and the integration of ranking systems by the various sanctioning bodies including USA Volleyball.  Each player can setup a profile on their system with links to all their results from events across the various ranking systems. The Carolina Region’s Tour Schedule Page will in particular list all events marked as part of the Carolina Region’s tour of events which is highlighted by a couple National USA Volleyball Qualifiers and a Regional Championships Event.  Events will get added as the season unfolds and hosts make LIVE their registration pages for their events.

NATIONAL TOUR 2024:  Similar to years past, some of the events on the CR JBT do tie-in to the USA National Beach Tour Junior Beach National Championships (BNC).  The 2024 USA Volleyball Beach National Championships will be announced shortly.  The USA National Beach Tour features the following:

• A small set (up to 30 events) of Beach National Qualifiers (BNQs) across the country.  The BNQs offer up to 4 bids per age group for GIRLS to the National Open bid division at the BNC.  Boys divisions at the BNC are currently open to any team (bid not needed).  Boys and Girls interested in attending the BNC should always check the BNC Tournament Page (to be linked when 2024 info is live) for current information and qualification procedures.
• Each region of USAV can also offer Beach Regional Qualifiers (BRQs) which award girl’s bids to the Regional Open bid division at the BNC. A subset of CR JBT events have been designated as BRQs (aka Regional Premier Tour Events).  Each event will offer a bid to BOTH finalist teams in each age division contested. Additionally, the top 4 players within the Carolina Region per age group according to the National Beach Ranking system as of July 1^st who do not have a National Open or Regional Open division bid will be offered one to the Regional Open division.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:  The Tournament Entry Fee will vary depending on site.  Sites hosted by a local host will have their own registration site and fees but usually no more than $50-$70/team unless it is a special or National qualification event (non-USAV members will have additional fee to become a member-see next paragraph).  Registration information for tournament sites will be posted on the Schedule page when finalized.  Players may also register on site the morning of the tournament if the site allows (contact TD in advance) but pre-registration is preferred to help with planning.

USAV MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:  Carolina Region/USAV sanctioned events require all participants to be USA Volleyball members (for insurance reasons). Non-USAV members will need to join  prior to entry for $10 one-event fee or $22 outdoor fee by following the Online Registration instructions or contacting the Region Office. Current members should save their digital USAV membership card as proof of membership (if you played on an indoor team in the Carolina Region this past season, then you are a USAV member and would have a digital member card).  The $22 Outdoor Membership category (granting full membership for outdoor events held Sept 1, 2023 – August 31, 2024) is available now.

PLAYER RANKINGS & RESULTS:   Results from the Carolina Region Junior Beach Tour will be included in the Volleyball Life National Rankings system.

2024 Junior Beach Tour Championships:  We have split the state into sub-Regions and there will be a tournament series in each Sub-Region. Teams will need have the opportunity to earn bids to compete at the tour-ending Carolina Region Girls’ Junior Beach Tour Championships (CR JBT Championships).  The CR JBT will be held at the Southern Sand Complex in Apex (near Raleigh) on June 29, 2024.  Due to participation levels and space, the CR JBT Championships is for Girls’ teams only.  As Boys’ Beach participation rises, we will look to add a Boys’ Championship in the future.

Qualification for Championships:  This is a by-invitation-only event. Girls’ teams earn bids to the Open division based on high finishes at a CR JBT event. Anyone signing up that did not earn a bid will be removed. If space is left prior to the Open/Gold division event, extra bids will be offered to teams based on rankings from the 2024 season during the 1-2 weeks before the event.  NOTE:  BOTH players on a team must be members of the Carolina Region to be eligible to participate in these Championships.

Bids to the Carolina Region Tour Championships are offered as follows:

• • Beach National Qualifiers and Beach Regional Qualifiers:
    • Open Division Bids:
      • All players earning a bid to the USAV National Championships in either the National Open or Regional Open divisions will also receive a bid to the CRJBT championships.
      •  
  • Standard Events – Bids are awarded as follows per age division:
    • Less than 5 teams: 1st place team.
    • 5 teams or more: 1st and 2nd place teams.

All divisions play on Saturday: Girls 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U

OTHER OUTDOOR EVENTS: This schedule will only include information on events that are officially part of the 2024 Junior Beach Tour. All other outdoor events that we are sanctioning (including juniors events) are on the 2024 Outdoor schedule (to be posted as events are submitted).

• 18 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2005 or Players who were born on or after July 1, 2004 and a high school student in the twelfth (12th) grade or below during some part of the current academic year
• 16 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2007
• 14 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2009
• 12 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after July 1, 2011
